South Africa - Shark Diving Tours

Located on the south coast, a mere two hours drive from Cape Town, the small fishing town of Gansbaai is said to be the 'White Shark diving capital of the world'.

This scenic section of coastline in Southern Africa offers ideal living conditions for the mighty Great White and is one of only a few places in the world where you can successfully observe them regularly and in their natural environment. Whilst Great White Sharks frequent most coastlines, this particular location is home to abundant wild life including a very large colony of Cape Fur seals, which provide ample hunting opportunities for the apex predator.

Even with several boats in the water all geared up and ready to go, seats can still be a rare commodity so booking is essential.

The Great White Shark diving capital of the world is often cited as Gansbaai which is located in the Western Cape province of South Africa, two hours drive from Cape Town.  This small fishing town is the gateway to exploring the watery habitat of the great white; also known as 'Shark Alley'. 

The local topography and environmental conditions combined with an abundant seal population make this location one of the few where sharks can be observed in their natural habitat, by taking a single-day tour.

There are a limited amount of operator permits issued for this unique experience, which combined with the weather dependency mean that seats are a rare commodity, especially in peak season so booking is essential.
